Secondary Suites
Although I am not in favour of a blanket policy of allowing secondary suites in existing communities, I do believe how we determine when and where secondary suites can be allowed needs to be improved.
With strong business rules in place in determining if a secondary suite application is acceptable, many of the applications can be dealt with through normal administration procedures. Exceptional cases can then be determined on a case by case basis.
All new communities, should be developed in a way that would allow for secondary suites. That means enough room for additional vehicles for parking and more green spaces to accommodate having more people within those communities.
